Ignition is a scheme for less experienced drivers, which rewards successful participants with a minimum discount of 20% on their Ford Insure insurance premium.
The scheme was developed by Hibernian in association with the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) UK. Applicants who qualify to participate are invited to go on a one - day training course, designed to accelerate their driving experience.
The Ignition course combines an interactive 'classroom' session with on - road training. The course is run by the IAM at a number of venues throughout Ireland and cars are provided by the IAM for delegates' use on the day.
What discount can I get if I am a successful participant?
If you successfully complete the ignition training, you will be rewarded with a premium discount ranging from 20% to 40% (on a Ford Insure Policy). Successfully candidates are also offered the option of an additional 10% discount for voluntarily refraining from driving between the hours of 11pm and 6am.

you can answer, “Yes” to the following questions, then you
may well be eligible for the Ignition programme.

you have a full licence? Yes
- Is
your licence conviction free? Yes
- Have you not had any ‘at fault’ accidents? Yes
- Do
you own, or intend purchasing,
- A
car 1400cc or less? Yes

If you have answered "Yes" to all of the above, then you should apply now through your Ford Dealer to become a Ford Insure Ignition delegate.
If you have had more than one 'at fault' accident, but you are a Ford Insure or Hibernian policyholder, then you may be still eligible for Ignition.
